Food, Fruit

The word ‘fruit’ is used as a general term, but it’s a lot more complicated than it appears. For example, tomatoes, cucumbers, and zucchini are actually fruits. However, because of the way they are used in cooking, they are considered culinary vegetables. Similarly, nuts are true fruits but they are not what come to mind when you think of fruit. Fruits can be consumed in many different ways, which lead to different uses and methods, and thus the term ‘Culinary Fruits’ came into existence. “

In general, people think of fruit as being sweet, sometimes tart or bitter, tender, and fleshy. These fruits are the ones that are popular in cooking, and thus labeled as ‘Culinary Fruits.’ There is an abundance of variety when it comes to using fruits in cooking. Some common culinary fruits include pineapple, lemon, lime, and orange but you would be surprised at what other fruits can make delicious dishes. With creativity and effort, culinary fruits can transform a dish into a an unexpected yet tasty treat. That same creativity and effort can transform the very way you see culinary fruits.
